History. I was never a fan of History. Well, I was never a fan of the subject at least. I tell everyone that History is my favourite lesson.. but nobody knows it’s actually because I get to see Katniss.

It’s the first lesson of the day and seeing her.. Well basically, seeing her puts me in a good mood. So I guess I can’t really complain. 

Today was different though, as she walked through the door. She was smiling. Not a forced smile I’d see her send to the teacher, but a signature Katniss smile no one really saw that often. Her hair wasn’t in one plait, or even two.. It was just down around her shoulders.

I couldn’t believe it. Katniss looked even more beautiful than usual.

It’s a long shot, it’s suicide maybe, but I do the only thing I can think of. I lean in and kiss Peeta full on the mouth. His whole body starts shuddering, but I keep my lips pressed to his until I have to come up for air. My hands slide up his wrists to clasp his. “Don’t let him take you from me.”

Peeta’s panting hard as he fights the nightmares raging in his head. “No. I don’t want to…”

I clench his hands to the point of pain. “Stay with me.”

His pupils contract to pinpoints, dilate again rapidly, and then return to something resembling normalcy. “Always,” he murmurs.
